A scholar in context
Al-Shawkānī was a Yemeni jurist, hadith scholar, and commentator. Fatḥ al-qadīr deliberately combines transmitted exegesis with reasoned analysis, grammar, rhetoric, and legal discussion.
The work stands at the later end of the Tafsir Al-Qurʾan sequence and frequently allows readers to see how earlier materials were received and reassessed.
